アバウト Juliana
Juliana democratizes access to knowledge about history and global politics through animated videos, as an inclusive way to learn about the past and understand the present.
In being aware of her privilege and realizing the extreme inequality within the country that prompts urban violence and a lack of education opportunities, Juliana and five other friends founded Alem dos Muros (Beyond the Walls). They have managed to reach more than 100 young people from her hometown, Macae, Rio de Janeiro. In addition to meetings, debates, and other exchanges to inform other young people of other lived realities. Through this initiative, Juliana and her peers have also visits to social institutions in the city and collected donations for underserved communities. The objective is to promote empathy and encourage youth leadership. In 2018, Juliana moved to Israel with a scholarship to attend high school at the Eastern Mediterranean International School. With its change and exit of other leaders, Alem dos Muros ended up losing strength, but soon, Juliana’s desire for change gave birth to a new project: HISTORIAR-TE, in which she produces and disseminates educational videos that showcase and explain global issues with a focus on history. With animations in digital design and a young and accessible voice, the videos engage students and teachers from different parts of the country, especially in the context of the pandemic and the need for remote learning. The YouTube channel has more than 100,000 followers and almost 4,000,000 views. Juliana has the help of three history teachers who volunteer to help with the scripts. Her dream for the future includes continued advocacy of accessibility to quality education for all. She wants to show that the world has open doors, even for those who live in small cities and have few resources.
