Ashoka
The United Nations estimates that more than 7 million people have left Venezuela as a result of the political turmoil, socio-economic instability, and humanitarian crisis. This makes the Venezuelan migration one of the largest displacements of people in the world in the 21st century. In the United States, Venezuelan immigrant adults have considerably high levels of education, especially in terms of four-year college degrees. Around the world, management, business, science, and arts occupations are some of their top employment field.
To address the complex challenges facing Venezuela and its people, Ashoka launched the Venezuelan Network of Diaspora Changemakers. This network brings together Venezuelan diaspora leaders and groups who are ready to develop new skills, commit to bringing new players to the table, and provide financial support to social entrepreneurs and civil society organizations in the country.
As the largest network of leading social entrepreneurs in the world, Ashoka recognizes the importance of cross-sector partnerships and collaborations in creating real impact in people's lives. The Venezuelan Network offers an opportunity to engage in and leverage the social-change ecosystem in the country, and have direct impact in areas like youth development, employment, food security, healthcare and more.
How to Participate
Venezuelans in Tech - Leadership and Impact Program focuses on the power of the Venezuela diaspora community working in the tech industry and committed to:
- developing leadership and change-making.
- connecting and networking with a community of Venezuela diaspora working in the tech industry.
- using their expertise and skillset to leverage the impact of a Venezuelan social entrepreneur.
This program has selected 9 professionals who will go through a series of learning and co-creation opportunities. They will develop new professional skills while collaborating with a leading social entrepreneur from Venezuela
Program dates: September 2023 - March 2024
Venezuelan Leaders is a network of individuals with strong networks and high net-worth, interested in working closely with Ashoka and help expand its vision: a world where Everyone is a Changemaker.
Through a series of engagement opportunities, these leaders gain a deeper understanding of Ashoka's strategies and the role they can play in them, while supporting the social entrepreneurship ecosystem in Venezuela via resources contribution and thought leadership.
The network was launched in an event on June 8, 2023, in Madrid, Spain, having organisations and leaders from the Venezuelan diaspora in Spain

Under the guidance of experts and professionals in different disciplines, they encourage learning through constructive debate in order to build a long-term vision for Venezuela.
Through our events, they aim for our participants to become ambassadors of Venezuela's potential: raising awareness in their communities about Venezuela and fostering high-impact initiatives.
