Tanya works on the issue of radon poisoning, a hidden killer in the United States. Radon is a colorless, invisible, and radioactive gas that comes from the natural decay of uranium. Over time, radon travels upwards into homes and buildings accumulating within these structures. It is the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. After researching the socioeconomic and demographic correlates of radon awareness, Tanya created a social initiative that distributes testing kits, advocates for radon awareness, and provides educational resources and workshops related to radon toxicity among the most vulnerable populations in her region.
