Focusing on albinism and creating a mindset shift that will craft a more inclusive society
In Sept 2019, Making More Health started a comprehensive program to increase health and safety conditions for people in Western Kenya. One initiative was to protect people with Albinism from discrimination and raise awareness in their environment, so MMH started a collaboration with Fellow Jane Waithera`s organization: ‘Positive Exposure’. The goal was to provide assistance to distribute training material in Kenya that was useful to educators, students, and health care personal to train people with albinism and their families. It talked about proper eye and skincare for people with albinism and also shared knowledge on how to create a conducive learning environment for students and how to avoid discrimination for people with albinism.
MMH and PE-Kenya also ensured 30 students with albinism who previously enrolled in individual schools attend regular schools and provided with reasonable accommodations like prescription glasses, telescopes, and large prints
Social entrepreneurs collaborating with MMH
By joining forces, co-creation is a way to solve complex health issues that cannot be solved by one player, one project, or one institution alone. MMH co-creation journey started in 2015, with more than 17 collaborations with social entrepreneurs. Find here some inspiring examples!
