Who would have guessed that the second year of the pandemic would be as hard as the first one? Certainly not us.
2021 took a toll on our sense of community, with exacerbated tensions and growing polarization within our society. Our mental health was also affected. Lots of screen time, permanent uncertainty getting in the way of making plans, and fewer occasions to connect and socialize continued to cause stress and anxiety. All that while record flooding in Switzerland last summer and extreme weather event around the world reminded us that our planet is under threat.
But humans, and especially changemakers, are resilient. That's how 2021, like previous years, saw exciting ideas and movements emerge: women and LGBTQ+ people joining their voices to build a gender equal world and Switzerland voting for the introduction of gay marriage, historically excluded communities exposing deep inequities, and more.
These developments show that the ability to shape the future belongs not to just a few, but to all of us. This is why we get up every morning, and what gives us energy to continuously and relentlessly work towards an everyone a changemaker world.
We're excited to share our 2021 Impact Report, with some great stories and lots of exciting projects!
