About Oorjit M
Oorjit started Project DextraHelp to restore a sense of dignity and independence to older individuals (ages 45-75+) who struggle with conditions like Parkinson's disease and Essential Tremors as this causes uncontrollable muscle spasms in the hands, making simple tasks like eating, cooking, and grooming difficult.
Oorjit founded Project DextraHelp as a youth-driven organization in 2021, now recognized by the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY). Their mission is to combat Parkinson's-related hand tremors, further aligning with Sustainable Development Goal No. 3: Health and Wellbeing. Along with the development of state- of-the-art, patent-pending products aimed at addressing immediate needs, they also conduct impactful awareness campaigns using blogs, social media, and community platforms to connect doctors and patients. They operating across two key verticals—virtual support and product innovation trying to meet both immediate and long-term needs effectively.
On the product innovation side, Oorjit has built the prototype of an affordable high-quality product, Dextrabot which is a non-invasive device offering a transformative solution for individuals with neuromuscular disorders affecting dexterity. The product effectively counteracts hand tremors, enabling users to perform daily tasks independently and with dignity. Dextrabot is an affordable patent-pending device priced at approximately $35, which is 1/2000th of current market solutions, making it a ground-breaking innovation in healthcare technology.
The organization also raises awareness and has built inclusive learning resources to bridge awareness gap along with AI-enabled chatbot trained on leading research published via scientific journals. Their awareness efforts have reached over 15,000 patients globally, facilitating communication between medical professionals and patients and providing vital virtual support.
