Mexico ??
My parents divorced when I was little in the middle of fights and yelling, 35 years later they still don't speak. My grandparents divorced before I was born, my uncles are all separated or widowed. This was my family background on relationship issues, so I never saw a healthy relationship around me.
So all my relationships in youth were a disaster, I didn't know how to have empathy, or tolerance, much less maintain a long-term relationship.
When I grow up and meet a person who really wanted to have a long-term relationship, I told him that I didn't know how to have a relationship because I never saw a success story around me, so if we wanted this relationship to work, we had to train ourselves and learn to have a healthy relationship.
This is how the adventure began, understanding that I had to start from scratch to have the tools and knowledge to have and maintain a healthy relationship.
We read many books on healthy relationships, entered Biblically based certifications and courses, and began to participate in couples activities at our local church.
we had 6 weekly meetings in different houses attending 50 couples on how to have healthy relationships. In these groups we saw that many couples had the same problem as me, they did not have examples in their family of healthy relationships and unfortunately they did not have the time to read and take all the certifications that we did, so they were looking for practical advice to apply in their relationship.
After 5 years of working with couples groups within the local church we decided that these tips and tools were important for couples of any faith to have.
So we decided to create the organization Matrimonios por Siempre, where through courses, workshops, conferences and therapy we can attend to any couple that has problems regardless of their religious belief.
Today we hold workshops every month, both face-to-face and online, serving 250 couples per year. We also work with companies offering conferences and courses to strengthen the relationships of their employees and finally training leaders of local organizations or churches on relationship issues.
In addition to our work, we belong to municipal councils to create public policies in favor of the family, such as the bill to establish a mandatory pre-marriage course in the state and work and family balance policies for companies.
Thanks to the content that we upload on social networks, we have been constantly invited on radio and television spaces to give couple advice, which has helped us reach countries like the United States and South America.
The challenge is very big, we live in the state with the highest rate of divorce in Mexico and only 15% of these separations are due to issues of family violence and infidelity, the remaining 85% are issues of communication and not agreeing on what they generate many problems for children in their security and emotional intelligence.
Our goal is to reach 500,000 couples in LATAM with skills and training to have healthy relationships that can impact the next generations with cero famiy violence and infidelity, creating couples embassadors that can lead others how to have healthy relationships.
