Nearly 40 percent of Indians are between the ages of 13 and 35 years old, making it the largest youth population in the world and one of India’s biggest assets. Yet, staggeringly low employment rates across the country are driving up youth anxiety and despondency. At the root of this is a fundamental mismatch between industrial era school curricula focused on repetitive and hierarchical learning, and the skills needed for future jobs. With job automation and the gig economy arriving at a rapid pace, it’s clear that a new education system focused on 21st century skills is of the essence.
