March 1, 2010 Ashoka Kenya Fellow Ann Njogu is one of 10 recipients this year, selected for her work against sexual and gender based violence and her role in the passage of Kenya’s Sexual Offences Act.
The International Women of Courage Award was created by Secretary of State Rice 3 years ago to recognize women who have shown exceptional courage and leadership.

5 Ashoka Fellows in top 10 for the Condé Nast Traveler Environmental Award

November 1, 2009 Five Ashoka Fellows were selected in the top ten of Condé Nast Traveler magazine's prestigious Environmental Award. This year’s selection by leaders of prominent environmental organizations demonstrates increasing acknowledgement of the role of social entrepreneurship in tackling pressing environmental issues

Ashoka Fellows recognized as 2009 Tech Laureates

September 30, 2009 Ashoka/Lemelson Fellows Joseph Adelegan and Howard Weinstein along with Ashoka Fellow Bright Simons have just been recognized as 2009 Tech Laureates by the Tech Museum. Presented by Applied Materials and a signature program of The Tech Museum, the Tech Awards recognizes innovators from around the world who are applying technology to benefit humanity in five categories: environment, economic development, education, equality, and health.

Karen Tse Receiving 2009 Gleitsman International Activist Award

September 29, 2009 Ashoka Fellow Karen Tse has been awarded the Gleitsman International Activist Award by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership.
She is being recognized for her efforts on behalf of people around the world who are denied their legal rights through arbitrary arrests, torture, and denial of counsel or a fair trial. The award and the $125,000 prize that goes with it will be presented to Tse at a ceremony in Cambridge on Tuesday, September 29th.
