Latin American Collaboration on Building Integrity Systems
Global Fellowship and Changemakers.net are launching the Latin American Collaboration on Building Integrity Systems. Ashoka Fellows will focus on providing strategies and policy recommendations on how the citizen sector can mitigate – and eliminate – government and corporate corruption. On May 24th-25th, nine Fellows will participate in the first roundtable in Lima, Peru.
The principal focus areas identified by Ashoka include:
- Articulating the impact of corruption on the poor
- Building alliances between Ashoka Fellows and other citizen sector organizations to end corruption and create integrity systems.
- Leveraging international media pressure and public opinion
- Developing productive relationships with authorities (police, politicians, judges)
- Improving the quality of institutions as a means of preventing corruption
- Transforming consciousness raising into action and changed behavior
- Disseminating innovations that work: strategies for solving “grand corruption” and “everyday corruption”
